Thanks to Dave, Brian Gordner, Justin Smith, and all the rest of the folks at Cherokee Valley, my classmates and I enjoyed an incredible week of golf and fellowship last week.  This was my first experience at planning one of these events, and you made it all incredibly easy.  Members of my class do this sort of thing at least three times a year, so I felt the pressure to measure up both as an event and as a destination.  People all the way from Texas to New York state attended, and we blew their socks off!  I sent an email to everyone who attended and asked for a critique so that I could make the event next year even better.  I did not expect the responses I got, and I'd like to share a few of them with you.

First, the accommodations were better than any place we have ever stayed in all the years we have been doing these types of events.  We have stayed at some real marginal places and some very nice places, but no one was prepared for the cabins at Cherokee Valley.  They absolutely loved them.  The porches were a big hit, especially the ones looking over the pond with the fountain and the tee box.  Most comments noted appreciation for the details like the decorations, kitchenware, and especially stemware for our wine tasting in the evenings.  Not a single negative comment was received about the cabins.

Second, I met with Justin Smith only two times and had a couple more telephone conversations with him regarding both the reception that Peggy and I hosted and the two evening meals that he prepared for us during the week.  Although I knew what was on the menu, Justin surpassed any expectations that I had. I also appreciated the fact that Justin provided the two evening meals after his normal hours in order to accommodate our golfing schedules.  It certainly made for a more relaxing and enjoyable  meal.  Finally, Justin arranged reservations at Peddler's Steak House for the entire group.  I understand that Peddlers does not ordinarily like to accommodate large groups, but we were greeted by the owner and enjoyed a private room with three staff to serve us.  It was a great evening.  Most people stated that they would just as soon take all the meals at Cherokee Valley, and I am entirely in agreement.  

Third. we played two rounds of golf at Cherokee Valley, and two rounds at other courses in the area.  I scheduled play at two other courses because we usually play a different course each day, but I must rethink that for the future.  Everyone felt that Cherokee Valley was the best maintained and the best challenge of the three courses we played.  Nearly half of the attendees recommended that we simply play all our rounds at Cherokee Valley in the future.  They cited the driving times, the fact that the course was so good, and the fact that they could have had more down time on the porches just visiting with each other.

In conclusion, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the golf course, the facilities, and the people associated with Cherokee Valley.  It is totally different from the usual venues we go to, and it has everything that this group of hard core golfers wants.  Finally, I am acutely aware that when word of this event gets out, we will be swamped with people wanting to attend next year.  Everyone who attended this year has already expressed intent to attend next year.

It rained both days we were there and we still had a great time. The golf was good and the cottage outstanding. My group and I plan on coming back at least every 3 months. We will bring more golfers on our next trip. The staff at the golf shop were great and the guys getting the bags were as good as it gets. Congratulations to you and the entire staff for an outstanding weekend [Owners’ Invitational & Wellness Center Ground-Breaking]. It was first class from beginning to end. It was apparent that a lot of thought and planning went into making this weekend a special time for the members and our guests.  Planning is important but it is execution that counts and you / the team nailed it. My guest is the Director of Member Services at Seven Falls with a ton of high end Club experience. He was appropriately  impressed. I was / am proud to be a member of Cherokee Valley.
