Dave Maga
Vice President of Operations and Instruction of the Cherokee Valley Golf Academy and the Cherokee Valley Golf Club.
A 20-year Class A Member of the PGA of America, Dave brings a wide range of knowledge and expertise to Cherokee Valley. He is responsible for overseeing the property and club operations.
Dave focuses largely on customer service, ensuring that each person who plays at Cherokee Valley has such a memorable experience that they will consider making the community their home.
Before heading up the Cherokee Valley Golf Academy, Dave was the Vice President and Director of Instruction for the Golf Digest Schools, working from their National headquarters at PGA National Resort and Spa, site of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Dave’s instructional articles are regularly featured in Golf Digest Magazine. He has been featured on the Golf Channel’s instructional show “The Turn.” Dave is also host for CNN’s Airport News “Golf Tips from the Pros,” which can be seen in every U.S. airport.
Dave provides corporate instruction around the world to such clients as: Microsoft, Siemens, Conde Nast, POLO, Jaguar, National Land Partners, Morgan Stanley, UPS, TAG Heuer and many more.
He has served as the Director of Instruction at the Olympia Fields Country Club, host to the 2003 U.S. Open, as well as the prestigious Marriott Camelback Inn & Resort in Scottsdale Arizona.
His tournament experience includes events on the PGA Tour, Southwest Mini Tour, Gateway Tour, Florida Mini Tours and multiple State Opens and PGA Sectional Events.
Dave’s clients include LPGA players, Mini-Tour players, Collegiate players, National Juniors and Special Olympics players.
Brian Gordner
Director of Golf, Cherokee Valley Golf Club
Brian has been a PGA Professional for 14 years. He is also certified by the PGA of America in golf operations and instruction.
Brian has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Ashwood University in Texas.
Brian served as the Tournament Director for the Grove Park Inn & Spa, and a teaching professional at Ibis Golf and Country Club host of the 1998 to 2000 LPGA Office Depot in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Brian has taught a wide range of players from juniors to mini-tour players as well as former stars in the National Hockey League as well as in Baseball’s Major Leagues.
He resides now in Hendersonville, NC with his wife Melissa, and their three children (Christopher, Nathan and Faythe).
